Cellulose acetate is a type of non-petroleum material and is made from natural cotton and wood fibers. As it is known, petroleum-based raw materials cause a lot of damage to the environment due to carbon emissions, but cellulose acetate is produced from renewable resources.
It is also a plant-based material that is hypoallergenic, and was used in eyeglasses in the early 1940s as a solution to the problems posed by normal plastic.
Cellulose acetate has an absorbent character and does not contain any chemicals and toxic substances from its own structure, as well as absorbs toxins that we expel through sweat. Petroleum-based plastic raw materials vomit toxic materials and infect the skin. This is the most important reason why acetate is preferred for 24/7 skin contact. The lenses we use in Atilla Mutlu sunglasses are of CR 39 - UV400 quality.
CR-39 (Columbia Resin) is made from Allyl diglycol carbonate. Also known as "organic glass".
